Equestrian Law relates to both horses and riders.  Legal issues can include riding accidents, misrepresentation in the sale or lease of a horse, veterinary negligence, stable liens, syndication, lease and sale contracts and litigation related to any of the above.

As equestrian attorneys, we can assist with documents and contracts for the sale or lease of a horse. Having a written contract can avoid costs of litigation in the future.

Not only is our firm familiar with equestrian law, but both Dan Engstrand and Wende Doniger are avid equestrians who are thoroughly experienced with horses and horse-related activities such as polo, fox hunting, showing and eventing. 

Based upon his broad range of experience in equine related matters, Dan Engstrand was appointed by Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy to be on the Suffolk County Equine Advisory Committee.  In this capacity, Dan Engstrand has advised the Suffolk County Park’s Department on the feasibility and mechanics of establishing an equine park on Long Island as well as provided input about the qualifications of various vendors seeking to operate Suffolk’s various horse boarding stables.  

In addition, Dan Engstrand has served as a Court-appointed Temporary Receiver of a prestigious polo club located on the east end of Long Island.
